• Energy savings: The PLS provides such high-quality task lighting that the ambient light in the office can be reduced by an additional 35 to 50 percent. This integrated solution can yield up to 70 percent savings for new construction or office remodel projects.
  
  
• Better managing the energy load: Integral occupancy sensor control provides additional savings in intermittently occupied work areas. Additionally, because the PLS provides such high-quality illumination, some users do not need ambient light in the office at all, which allows for implementing aggressive automatic-demand-response strategies during times of peak demand.
  
  
• Conserving natural resources: In several test sites, the total PLS lighting power density (task and ambient) ranged between 0.5 and 0.7 watts per square foot. Conservatively estimating energy savings in the U.S. as a whole, this level of lighting power density would mean saving on average of 1 watt per square foot in 10 billion square feet of commercial office space, an astounding 30 billion megawatt hours of savings, or enough power for 3 million homes.
  
  
• Advanced technology for extended product life: The PLS LEDs last more than 50,000 hours of operation. That translates into over 30 years of expected life when used an average of 6 hours per day. And, the position of the PLS desk lamp can be adjusted to compensate for lumen depreciation that will occur over that extended time period.
  
  
• Recycled and recyclable materials:
  
  PLS Desk Lamp / Recycled Content: Aluminum, iron, and zinc components are 100% recycled content. Steel components are approximately 88% recycled content. Based on these best estimates obtainable from our suppliers, these statistics result in approximate recycled content of 94 to 97%
  
  PLS Undercabinet / Recycled Content: The steel components contain approximately 13% recycled content.
