The program is open to those who manufacture, sell, and recommend the best in LED lighting, ensuring that LED luminaires are accurately represented. To provide accurate product performance data, manufacturer partners use the Lighting Facts label to disclose performance results in five key areas – lumens, efficacy, watts, correlated color temperature (CCT) and color rendering index (CRI). Performance data must be based on industry standard testing procedures, as referenced in IES LM-79-08.

Energy Star Key Product Criteria for Commercial LED Lighting

The purpose of the Department of Energy (DOE)-sponsored Energy Star for SSL serves two purposes: 

1. It establishes industry-wide performance-based criteria for quality LED luminaires that manufacturers, architects, engineers, lighting consultants, end-users, and utility incentive programs may use in the design and selection process of LED products.
2. Manufacturers may choose to submit products to the DOE to be qualified to carry an Energy Star label.
   Because Energy Star has been more widely adopted for residential lighting products, it will be some time before all manufacturers of commercial LED lighting fully adopt the use of the Energy Star label. Look for future Finelite developments.

Approved Method for the Electrical and Photometric Measurements of SSL Products 

Finelite has tested all PLS to the latest electrical and photometric standard for LED luminaires.

Because LED luminaires are unique and require a specific testing standard, different from fluorescent or other luminaire types, an approved IES testing method should be used. IES LM-79-08 is relatively new - verify that you have accurate photometric performance data for making design decisions.

Approved Method for Measuring Lumen Maintenance of LED Light Sources

Finelite backs its lumen maintenance and lifetime claims with data. PLS is rated for an L70 life of > 50,000 hours.

PLS LM-80-08 Lumen Maintenance Report

IES LM-80-08 is the standard for testing how well an LED light source maintains its lumen output. This data, combined with LED luminaire thermal performance, yields a predicted life rating. An L70 life rating is the number of hours an LED luminaire will maintain at least 70% of its initial lumens.

Finelite, Inc. warranties all Personal Lighting System components to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of three years.
